Inhabitante it is the result of a day of recording in which spontaneous planning revealed the final form and structure of the seven pieces that today make up the album. Throughout the music, different materials are treated and developed, at the same time that they function as triggers for improvisation.
The use of polyrhythms is a recurring element within the pieces. The resource is deepened through rhythmic displacements and metric modulations, as for example in Acrobacias, where the piano executes a polyrhythm of 4 against 5 between both hands, while grouping in 3 notes the low line. In other cases, the rhythm is less quantized and the tempo is more flexible, as in Balizas, where accelerandos, rallentandos and sudden tempo changes alternate.
Melodies appear discreetly, most often intending to mark specific moments or leading free improvisational gestures. Such are the cases of the last bars in Trama de Pampas that prepare the ending of the piece, or the pianissimo played in the middle of Sala de Maquinas before the final improvisation.
In relation to harmony, the thesis of the album has to do mainly with dissonances, perhaps manifested more explicitly in the piece that gives the album its name, Inhabitante. Escapes from functional harmony are constant through the use of notes without hierarchy, such as the twelve-tone pattern at the beginning of Venas dentro de venas dentro de venas or the use of polytonalism in Dr. Nistagmo. Likewise, in this same piece, the harmonic exploration of the cymbals interacts with certain registers of the piano, generating new frequencies (undertones and overtones) and referring to typical spectralism soundscapes.
